Growing Your Motivation

We all know those moments when you should be practicing something for your own good but can’t get up to do it. This could be meditation, yoga, eating, sleeping, cleaning, etc. These actions may be simple for some, but it’s like moving the moon for the rest. Well, I am here to give a piece of advice from a struggler myself.

First, take a moment.

I need you to take a deep breath and settle into yourself. Simply be. Relax each muscle from your head to your toes. Consciously, be aware of individual muscles and the tension it holds, and let them go. I like to call on parts of the body that is always subconsciously locked under stress. I consciously relax my jaw, butt, and shoulder muscles. Starting from the top, move down your body to each muscle until you have reached your toes. This may take a minute to set in fully, but this is okay. It is okay to take a moment. Finish this step with a deep breath.

Note: If you plan on practicing meditation this is an excellent place to segway into it.

Second, move your body.

If this step is hard, consciously tell yourself “I lift my pinky”, then lift it; “I lift my hand”, then lift it; “I can move my arm” then move it. Keep working on this until you are able to lift/move each body part. Personally, I like to start with my fingers and toes. I wiggle my pinkies and toes and move on to my legs and arms. Wiggling my fingers and toes is my favorite method to bring my body and mind back to the present.

Now, it is time for your self-talk.

This is a space only for encouragement. “I am doing wonderful,” “I can do this,” and “I can take action in these next moments.” Now deeply inhale, and sit up! You got this!

~

Peace, love, and light. I hope everyone can take a piece from this message and put it into practice. Thank you for reading along and receiving my word.
